Talking to a few people who are not as interested in politics, it became clear that they did not realize how far left the US “Left” has become. At the same time, a centrist position has vanished.
Their main points came from main stream media, which claims with graphics that Breitbart is a far Right news organization and Fox as Right of center.
My questions to them was this:
Who is harmed by illegal immigration?
We all agreed that illegal immigration harms the lower class the most, and middle class next, with the only class benefiting as the extremely wealthy and businesses who hire them.
That acknowledgement used to be the centrist position shared by both the Left and Right in politics. Every President going back to Kennedy said that illegal immigration was a problem. Every President in the last 36 years has said that illegal immigration needs to have legislative fixes, including Obama and Clinton who together cover 16 years of Presidency.
Today however, the majority of Democratic Politicians including Presidential candidates are promoting open borders. If you disagree with that position, you are labelled a far Right. (In addition to being called a xenophobe, racist, and some things much worse.)
Obvious truths discussed by President Trump are distorted and cherry picked by the Leftist media (most media in the US) and portrayed as racist, xenophobic, and worse.
This has brought us to a point where it is impossible to be a centrist. This is just one of numerous areas where the left has flipped positions from being pro-American (protecting your own constituents) to being anti-American (promoting policies which harm your own constituents).
For posterity, I would like to point out that Fox News has been the only “Media” outlet rated as fair averaging 52% negative and 48% positive coverage of President Trump, where most other media has been 90% negative or more. Being balanced has earned Fox a label of “center right” by establishment media. Breitbart writing is popular because it does cover things from the center right perspective, but they are labelled “Far right”.
In the US we have 2 media outlets which are not on the far left, and all other media is far left.
The centrist according to them is the “Right”. Where are your views being represented?
