P.D. Mangan also exposes the mainstream media for providing false information about weight loss, dieting and strength training. Which supports my believe that the media sucks. For example in the book he talks about osteoporosis and how resistance training helps to fight it but the media never talks about it.
A thing that I really liked about the book is that P.D. Mangan provides references to various studies he used to back up his assertions. Statements like Strength training prevents cancer are backed up by studies and diagrams.
For the most part Mangan clears up some false beliefs about saturated fats, cholesterol, aerobics/cardio, weightlifting and many other diet and exercise related issues.
Towards the end he covers topics like workout routines, how to stay motivated, should you use heavier weights or more reps for better gains in strength and health, and he answers questions like number of sets, reps and lifting to failure.
Conclusion
Who will benefit from this book?
Literally everyone, and I’m not kidding. It’s great for young people who are just starting out, for people who want to lose weight, for people who love to exercise but have been brainwashed by the false information out there i.e. cardio is good for fat loss, people who want to get healthy, people who are just starting to work out and who have been told to jog or hit the crosstrainer, and older people.
Muscle Up may convince them that cardio is not the most efficient way to lose weight and they will finally start with strength training and go to work on the Iron!
Muscle Up will point them in the right direction as soon as they get started.
The book is full of valuable knowledge so if you are interested in Fitness the book is made for you.
I am hitting the gym for a few years now but after reading this book I learned a lot. I didn’t know that strength training was that useful it’s literally the best medicine and the best thing you can do for yourself. For a deep insight into weight lifting, strength and resistance training I highly recommend this book.
